Microneedling, and what the appointment actually involves

A controlled injury, deliberately made, and the reason the aftercare matters as much as the session.

About the clinic

Microneedling works by making a very large number of very small channels in the skin with fine needles. The skin responds to those channels the way it responds to any injury, by repairing, and the repair is the point. The needles are the mechanism, not the treatment.

The second thing the channels do is let actives reach further than they otherwise would. That is why microneedling at Skinglow is almost always paired with something: exosomes, polynucleotides, or a resurfacing step. The pairing is chosen at the consultation, from what the skin scan shows.

The appointment. Skin is cleansed and numbed, the pass is made at a depth chosen for the area and the concern, and the active is worked in. Depth is not a setting to maximise. Deeper is not better; it is simply deeper, and the right depth around the eyes is not the right depth on the cheek.

Afterwards. Expect the skin to look flushed for a day or so, occasionally longer. Sun exposure, heat, exercise and active skincare all wait. Tetyana will tell you for how long, because it depends on the depth used and on the actives.

Not suitable if. There are conditions and medications that rule microneedling out, and skin that is actively inflamed or infected is not treated. This is established at consultation before anything is booked, which is why the consultation exists rather than being an upsell.
